In
1944, a headline such as the above would not be at all far-fetched. Amram
Mitzna, the David Dinkins of Haifa, promises to negotiate with Yasser Arafat
without preconditions, no matter how many more Jews he murders. After Mitzna´s
certain electoral loss on January 28th, he should become a professor at an elite
American university. This is the only place where he can preach his ridiculous
leftist ideologies to individuals who may take him seriously – vulnerable,
idealistic eighteen-year olds, who have not as yet matured.
Any intelligent, thoughtful adult should be dumbfounded by Mitzna´s pacifistic
streak, especially given his military background. After experiencing firsthand
the importance of maintaining principles and military strength, Mitzna breaks
the primary rule of a democracy; never negotiate with terrorists. His weakness
stems from a European style intellectual thinking, based on bowing down to
"international law," rather than true American-style democracy, which believes
in "God-based law" as its foundation.
Mitzna belongs to the camp that views every battle as having two equal sides,
each with a point of view. America and George Bush see the battle as one between
good and evil, an idea stemming from the Jewish Bible, to which Arik Sharon
subscribes. Most times, there is an absolute right and wrong, with the wrong
side having to be dealt with forcefully or destroyed. However, if your basis for
thought is non-religious, you recognize evil as just another viewpoint.
According to Mitzna, politics is about "improving people´s lives." That is the
fundamental Labor mantra. Sharon and the Likud party believe that the purpose of
politics is to provide Israelis with "the opportunity" to improve their lives,
and to give them the liberty and security in which to do so.
George Orwell, the great writer, said that "communism is an idea so stupid, that
only a college intellectual could ascribe to it." That is why most major
policies of the Mitzna-Bellin-Sarid-Ramon crowd are foolish. Their beliefs are
grounded on compassion and feelings, which view the world through a leftist
prism, rather than through Torah-based Jewish values. Such a group finds it
somewhat strange for a Jewish state to, God forbid, espouse Torah values.
Mitzna and his loyal followers have weakened Israel vis-a-vis the Palestinians,
by showing an erroneous understanding of the Arab/Muslim mentality. Instead of
dealing with them from a position of strength, which is respected, "Amram-aleh
the compassionate" understands their pain and oppression. The Talmud teaches us,
"those who will be compassionate with the cruel, will be cruel to the
compassionate."
Naturally, these ideas have worked their way into Mitzna´s increasing social
program agenda. Like the rest of the Labor party, he simply does not understand
the corrosive effect of having government take care of able-bodied people. One
has to only look at
Europe today to witness the immoral results of socialism for all.
Amram Mitzna is the classic 21st Century Jewish liberal, who believes that his
conservative opposition is not only wrong, but criminal. He has already equated
Likud with organized crime. Yet Sharon has never made such an ad hominem attack
on any opponent, because conservatives understand that liberals truly mean well,
but are merely wrong - quite a different view of life.
Therefore, since Mitzna cannot confront Sharon on the real issues, he makes
statements such as "Sharon is panicking the nation with the present Iraqi
situation." Apparently, the SCUDS of 1991 were part of a greater Likud
conspiracy. The moral deterioration of the Labor party since the assassination
of Yitzchak Rabin is profound.
Unfortunately, Mitzna, Bellin, Sarid and Peres truly believe that if only Israel
gave back territory and acted a certain way, the Palestinians would accept
Israel. The real problems in Israel, according to this view, relate to the
economy, the environment, civil marriage, forced closures on Sabbath, etc.
Mitzna´s use of the term "cycle of violence" is a giveaway to his flawed belief
system. The term implies that both sides are at fault. Never mind that one side
uses terrorism and the majority of its population does not want the other to
exist. Any person living in a democracy who cannot see the moral difference
between Israel and the Palestinians is more frightening than the suicide
bombers.
The character qualities of Amram Mitzna should have been apparent to every
Israeli from the outset. After his initial victory to lead the Labor party
ticket, both Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and PLO leader Yasser Arafat
congratulated him, making remarks to promote his success for the prime
ministership.
When evil cheers for you, you have a serious problem.
